Peace Walk 2008: Learning on the move
On Saturday 18th October more than a hundred walkers from different faiths united for prayers in Priory Gardens and then embraced a tour of religious buildings across the city. The first stop was the Chapel of Unity in Coventry Cathedral. Walkers then took in Zeenat-ul Islam Mosque before moving on to the Hindu Temple in Stoney Stanton Road. The Peace Walk ended with lunch at the GNP Gurdwara in Harnall Lane West. Participants in the walk were delighted with the reception they got at each place of worship, which arranged a short presentation on the faith it represents and presented a message of peace. Coventry Multi-Faith Forum thanks Lee House of Coventry City Council for a small grant which enabled us to print our peace walk prayers. We also thank Trustees who arranged our visits, all walkers, Councillor Kevin Foster for his words of welcome, young Bahais for reading our common statement, and last but not the least all places of worship visited for their warm welcome and hospitality.
